What this tool does

It generates QR codes in your browser, with no signup, no watermark and no limit, for seven kinds of content: a URL or free text, a WhatsApp chat with a pre-filled message, access to a WiFi network, a vCard contact card, an email, a phone call or an SMS. You can put your logo in the centre, pick colours and size, and download it as PNG for printing or SVG for lossless scaling.

The QR content is never sent to any server: the WiFi password or the phone number on your card is encoded on your machine and leaves it only inside the image you download.

How to use it

  1. Pick the content type with the buttons at the top and fill in the fields.
  2. The QR appears on the right instantly; adjust colours, size and margin if you like.
  3. If it is for a brand, upload the logo and it is placed in the centre.
  4. Download PNG (for social media, documents or direct printing) or SVG (for print shops, vinyl and any size).

A QR with a logo that still scans

A QR code carries enough redundancy to be read even when part of it is damaged: that is error correction, with four levels (L 7%, M 15%, Q 25%, H 30% of the code recoverable). To the reader, a logo in the centre is exactly that: a damaged patch. So as soon as you upload a logo, this tool fixes error correction at H and reserves 22% of the code’s side for the image (about 5% of the area, plus the background box), well below what H tolerates.

Three tips that avoid the pretty QR nobody can scan:

  • Transparent background on the logo (PNG or SVG). A logo on a white rectangle looks fine; a logo on a coloured background covers more modules than necessary.
  • Contrast: the code must be dark on light. The tool warns when the colour pair drops below 3:1 or is inverted; iOS and Android readers struggle with light QR codes on dark backgrounds.
  • Test with two phones before sending a thousand cards to print. It is the only real verification.

WhatsApp QR: what it contains and what it does not

The WhatsApp QR carries a https://wa.me/<number>?text=<message> link. When scanned, the app opens the conversation with that number and the message typed in, waiting for the customer to press send. You receive nothing until they do; the pre-filled message is there so you know where the contact came from (“Hi, I saw the QR on the menu”) and so the customer does not have to think about what to write.

The number goes with the country code and without the plus sign. For a US number that is 1 followed by the ten digits; in the tool you can type it with spaces or dashes and they are stripped automatically. WhatsApp Business is not required: it works with any account.

vCard QR: the whole contact inside the code

A QR with your website forces whoever scans it to open a browser, hunt for your phone number and save it by hand. A vCard QR carries the full card, name, company, job title, phone, email and website, in the standard format (vCard 3.0), and the phone offers to save the contact directly on scanning. It works offline and does not depend on any page that could go down or change.

The trade-off is a denser code than a URL-only one. Rule of thumb: print it at 3 cm per side or more and do not set the margin to zero. If you need a small QR (a pin, a label), use the URL of your contact page instead of the vCard.

WiFi QR

It encodes the network name, security type and password in the format iOS and Android cameras understand: on scanning they offer to join without typing. Write the SSID exactly as it appears on the phone, respecting case and spaces; the same goes for the password. If the network is hidden, tick the box so the phone looks for it even though it is not broadcast.

The format’s reserved characters (;, ,, :, ", \) are escaped automatically, so a password with symbols does not break the code.

PNG or SVG: which to download

  • PNG is a pixel image at the size you choose (up to 1024 px here). Fine for screens, documents and printing up to card or small poster size.
  • SVG is vector: every module is a mathematical square and scales to any size without blurring. It is what you send to a print shop, signage or vinyl. If you added a logo, the SVG embeds it.

Static or dynamic QR

Everything this tool generates is static: the content lives inside the image. It does not expire, has no scan quota and keeps working if a service shuts down. Paid “dynamic QR” codes are really a link shortener with statistics: the code points to a URL at the provider and that URL redirects wherever you say. Useful if you will change the destination after printing; unnecessary otherwise, and with a point of failure a static code does not have.

Questions it answers

  • How do I make a QR for the restaurant menu? → URL type with the link to the PDF or website, PNG for the table stand and SVG for the vinyl.
  • How do I share the WiFi with customers? → WiFi type; print the PNG and put it near the till.
  • How do I get people to message me on WhatsApp from a sign? → WhatsApp type with the message “Hi, I’m coming from the sign at…”.
  • QR for business cards? → vCard type, H correction, 3 cm or larger.
  • And with my logo? → upload the image under “Logo in the centre” and download SVG for print.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a QR code with my logo in the centre?

Generate the QR with any content type, click Choose image under Logo and upload a PNG or SVG, ideally with a transparent background. The logo sits in the centre on a box of the background colour and error correction is automatically fixed at H, the level that tolerates up to 30 per cent of the code being covered. That way the reader reconstructs what the logo hides. Download as PNG to print or as SVG if you will scale it without losing sharpness.

How do I generate a WhatsApp QR that opens a chat with a message?

Pick the WhatsApp type, enter the number with the country code and without the plus sign (14155551234 for a US number) and, optionally, a pre-filled message. The QR contains a wa.me link that, when scanned, opens the conversation with that number and the text ready to send. The customer sends the message, not you: it is there so the chat arrives with context, for instance "Hi, I saw the sign in the shop".

What is a vCard QR and why is it better than a QR with my website?

A vCard QR carries the full contact card inside the code itself: name, company, job title, phone, email and website. When scanned, the phone offers to save the contact directly, without opening a browser or depending on a page staying online. It is the right format for business cards, event badges and printed signatures. The trade-off is a denser code than a plain URL, so print it at 3 centimetres or larger.

How do I create a QR to share the WiFi password?

Pick the WiFi type, enter the exact network name, the security type (almost always WPA/WPA2) and the password. When scanned, iOS and Android offer to join that network without typing anything. If the network is hidden, tick the box so the phone looks for it even though it is not broadcast.

Do QR codes expire or have a scan limit?

No. The codes from this tool are static: the content lives inside the image and never passes through an intermediate server, so they do not expire, have no scan counter and keep working if a service shuts down. Generators that charge a subscription for "dynamic QR" are selling a URL shortener with statistics; if you do not need to change the destination after printing, a static QR is more reliable.
